From, the Office of the
Jt Commissioner Of police (Traffic)
Traffic Police Headquarters,

To,
The Addl. Muncipal Commissioner ( ES ),
Roads MCGM,
Mumbai

Traffic Control Branch has has always put up traffic Umbrellas / Pedestals on Junctions on all major roads. In order that the traffic policeman stand on these Umbrella pedestals are visible to the motorists while driving from a distance and controlling the traffic. This umbrellas have been regularly put up on sponsorship basis as Traffic Branch is in no position to spend on fabrication of such Umbrellas. We have now got revised designs made from a few agencies for upgrading the quality of these umbrellas for better visibility of the policeman including at night and better facilities for traffic branch and traffic policemen for storage of traffic control material and better aesthetics.

These Umbrellas are also proposed to be illuminated at night for which the concerned sponsors will obtain permission and connection from BEST.

These upgraded Umbrellas will replace the old existing ones and supplement old ones at other junctions.

This will facilitate better controls and regulation of traffic by the Traffic control branch. The Umbrellas will display the Traffic Branch Logo and traffic education message for which 1/3rd of the total space has been reserved. Thus far the whole Umbrellas were being used only for the sponsors logo and message. Now only 2/3rd of the space will be allowed to the sponsor to display their message. These Umbrellas are totally portable.

This may please be agreed and conveyed to all the concerned in the MCGM. We would like to complete the installation of these Umbrellas before 15th june, so that they will be found useful to give shelter to the traffic policeman during the monsoon.
